FAMILY RESOURCES

FAMILIES: OUR SUPERHEROES!

Let's face it, families do all the heavy lifting of getting their children to practices, games, tournaments and much more.  The countless hours of cheering and supporting the players and teams do not go unnoticed by the Colonials organization.  We truly appreciate you!  This page includes information to help you navigate the Colonials season.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are always needed!  Team managers, locker room monitors, penalty box attendants, scorekeepers and clock operators are essential positions that keep the team running smoothly.  If you wish to be involved, bring your positive and cooperative energy.  It is contagious, in a good way.

All volunteers must register with USA Hockey and complete SafeSport training.  Team managers and locker room monitors are required to complete background screens.  We highly recommend background screening but it is not required to run the clock or keep score of the games.

INJURIES

Hockey is a contact sport and injuries can happen.   When more serious injuries such as bone fractures, torn ligaments and concussions, the Colonials and USAH offer secondary insurance coverage.  This helps with medical bills not covered by your primary insurance.

If your child is injured during a New Jersey Colonials activity, complete and submit the NJC Injury Report and the USA Hockey Injury Claim Forms online.  It is best to submit these forms within 30 days of the injury, even if you do not think you will need it.

  • Upon receipt of the NJC Injury Report, the Director of Hockey Operations will send the insurance forms to start your claim.
  • The USA Hockey claim form goes directly to AG insurance.

If your player suffers a concussion, it is required to have a medical professional complete the USA Hockey Concussion Return To Play Form before returning to practice, games and off-ice training.

If you didn’t purchase Sports Fee Insurance during your child’s registration with the New Jersey Colonials, there’s still time to protect your investment.

Vertical Insure (VI) offers coverage that helps you recoup non-refundable fees if your child is unable to participate during the season due to:

✔ Injury or illness (short-term or season-ending)

✔ Job loss or relocation

✔ Death of a parent or athlete

With this policy, you’ll be reimbursed directly or Vertical Insure will pay NJC on your behalf depending where the monies are owed. This helps ease the financial burden of unexpected disruptions.

📌  New Jersey Colonials Refund Policy

The Tuition Fee or any portion thereof is non-refundableThe New Jersey Colonials cannot offer refunds, for any reason, for participating with a team because the money collected in registration fees goes directly towards paying coaches for their time, ice time, insurance, equipment, and other fixed costs. All of which are expenses that cannot be recouped after a registrant has secured a roster position at tryouts.

Notwithstanding, you may opt to purchase sports fee insurance through Vertical Insure (VI).   Any such refund will be processed through Vertical Insure and not by the New Jersey Colonials.  For full information on Vertical Insure terms and coverage, visit https://landing.verticalinsure.com/verticalinsure.

You may contact the New Jersey Colonials Director of Hockey Operations or any member of the New Jersey Colonials Board of Directors with questions or concerns about this refund policy via info@colonialshockey.org.
