On Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 9AM to 1PM the NJ Colonials 12U Pee Wee AA team held a volunteer food collection event at the ShopRite of Greater Morristown.

The goal was simple. Help the NJ Colonials put an end to hunger. The game plan was equally simple. Ask shoppers to purchase one or two items from a list, collect the donations from the shoppers on their way out and deliver all the proceeds to the Interfaith Food Pantry in Morris Plains, NJ.

In four one-hour shifts, the Pee Wee AA players handed out flyers to ShopRite customers and waited with anticipation to collect donations from shoppers as they exited the store. By the end of the event it was evident every shift scored big.

The players, staff and parents were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and generosity from the local community. The Pee Wee AA team collected more than 6 shopping carts full of donations and $130 in cash.

The next day the team delivered all food and cash proceeds to the Interfaith Food Pantry just in time for the holiday season. The team earned a big win for Morris County by donating 946 pounds of food and helped put an end to hunger.

The Interfaith Food Pantry sent a letter of appreciation to the NJ Colonials Pee Wee AA team recognizing their accomplishment and generosity.
