Joe Carey grew up playing for the Colonials and is excited to coach the next generation.  His first team made it the NJYHL 10U A Finals.

Carey played at Roxbury High School, that captured the Halverson Cup and won the division twice during his varsity career.

Coach Carey graduated from Quinnipiac University and is now a financial planner in Morris County.

Tim Fleury returns for his second season behind the bench at 10U.

Coach Fleury played with the Colonials and was a member of the Delbarton ice hockey program for 4 years.  He went on to play club hockey at High Point University.

Fleury’s passion for coaching led him to the Rising Rebels Baseball program, where he has coached for the past 4 years.

Corey Kaplan grew up playing for the New Jersey Colonials.  Corey then played at Roxbury HS where he graduated as one of the school's all-time leading scorers.  Thereafter, he played club hockey at Cornell University.

Coach Corey believes in focusing on player development and the importance of instilling the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline in each player, with the goal of creating a fun and inclusive environment where every player feels valued and excited to come to the rink.

Coach Kaplan now lives in Chatham with his wife Stefanie and two boys who are both in the NJ Colonials program.

JAMES PAPA

ASSISTANT COACH

Playing Experience:

  • Park Hockey – High School

James Papa enters his second season as an assistant coach with the New Jersey Colonials. He brings several years of experience from Hanover Storm, where he coached across multiple age levels.

Known for his ability to connect with players, Coach Papa focuses on motivating kids by keeping hockey fun, competitive, and engaging.

Coach Papa lives in Florham Park with his family.
