Many young hockey players dream about playing in the NHL while skating on frozen ponds and local rinks every year. The NHL Entry Draft is one step towards achieving that dream.

The 2019 NHL Entry Draft was held on June 21–22, 2019 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. Three former New Jersey Colonials players, John Farinacci, Marshall Warren and Jack Malone were among the 217 names called as teams restocked their prospect pools.

Center John Farinacci was drafted in the 3rd round, 76th overall by the Arizona Coyotes. Farinacci played for the Dexter School after a stint with the US National Team Development Program. He joins the Harvard Crimson this fall. He hails from Red Bank, NJ and played bantam hockey with NJC and Delbarton Prep before heading out to Shattuck St. Mary’s Prep.

Defenseman Marshall Warren was drafted in the 6th round, 166th overall by the Minnesota Wild. Warren was one of a record-breaking 17 players drafted out of the USNTDP U18 team this season. Warren is committed to Boston College and was drafted by the OHL in 2017. He played his bantam hockey with the same NJC teams as John Farinacci.

Forward Jack Malone was also drafted in the 6th round, 181st overall by draft host Vancouver Canucks. He was selected from the USHL Youngstown Phantoms and will play for Cornell this season. Malone spent most of his youth hockey career with NJC. He played two seasons at Delbarton for NJC Executive Director, Bruce Shatel.

The Colonials extend congratulations and best wishes to all three players!
